Setup Finish

Installing Viva New Vegas

You have now finished the missing Linux setup section of Viva New Vegas. You can proceed with the rest of the guide, including VNV Extended, but be mindful of the following caveats
  1. You must skip the Performance and Stability Guide.
  2. The FNV BSA Decompressor currently is finicky under Proton, and when you're running on a handheld device, space is at a premium. Instead, install the zlib Updated mod.
  3. To install the ESM fixes, add the executable to MO2 first, then follow the instructions. The installer may glitch out, but don't quit until a blank orange button appears.
  4. Use the Linux or Python 4GB patcher instead of the Windows one.

Once you're done, make sure it's fully working; fire up a new save and walk out of Doc's shack. Make sure the Tweaks menu has appeared in the game settings and the pause menu is listing the version numbers of various installed mods at the bottom left.

Why not do the Performance and Stability guide?

Most (not quite all) of that section of the guide is concerned with making Fallout use a more modern rendering pipeline on Windows; the DXVK bit and the SpecialK/RivaTuner section. This is already included in your Proton install, so you can safely skip all of it. Additionally, modern PC handheld devices are pretty capable of running Fallout: New Vegas without extensive tuning.
